We're a Berkeley-based non-profit that provides affordable safety net services to Seniors and People with Disabilities, empowering them to live independently in their own homes.
We offer Emergency Attendant Care 24 hours a day and 7 days a week in case your regular attendant isn't available. If you need help finding an attendant, please get in touch with one of our Case Managers. Berkeley residents can get around town with our private accessible transportation. Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland residents can take advantage of affordable wheelchair repair, and if your mobility device breaks down while outdoors in Northern Alameda County, you can call us for free Wheelchair Rescue.
We offer affordable Wheelchair Repair to residents of both Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland. If your mobility device breaks down while outdoors in Northern Alameda County, you can call us for free Wheelchair Ride, which includes wheelchair repair and a free ride to your home.
Serving Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Emeryville, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Oakland
Fast, Accessible, Safe, Transportation, Equipment, Repair (FASTER) connects you to one of our qualified repair technicians who will help troubleshoot your broken mobility device over the phone, meet you at your location, and attempt basic repairs. If needed, we will take you and your device to a safe location in one of our wheelchair-lift vans.

Serving Berkeley, Emeryville, El Cerrito, Richmond, and Albany Residents
Our repair technicians are qualified to diagnose and resolve various issues with wheelchairs, scooters, and a wide range of assistive devices. We use donated parts to keep the service affordable and have a limited supply of wheelchairs and mobility devices to loan while equipment is being repaired.

If your full-time attendant misses a shift, we always have at least one Personal Care Attendant on call to provide support. If you need help finding a new full-time attendant, please contact our case managers.
Serving Berkeley Residents
Our emergency attendants are on standby to assist Berkeley residents with physical disabilities who have an unforeseen crisis or disruption in their regular in-home care support system. Our experienced and qualified staff provide assistance with urgent activities of daily living when no other caregiver is available.
Serving Berkeley Residents
Our Case Managers assist Berkeley Residents with physical disabilities to find and maintain quality in-home care workers, build attendant management skills, and to rely on Easy Does It Emergency Services as little as possible.
Private Beta now open to Berkeley Residents
A private social network for Caregivers and Clients that require their care. You can create your profile, search for and communicate with Caregivers that are looking for work. Everyone who joins the social network is vetted by our Case Managers. Caregiver Connection is currently in Private Beta, meaning some features may not work as intended and access to the network is restricted.

Our Emergency Attendant Care and Matching are primarily funded through Measure E, a ballot initiative passed by Berkeley voters in 1998. Measure E authorized a small property tax to finance essential services for severely physically disabled residents of Berkeley. This funding supports EDI’s emergency personal care, wheelchair repair, and accessible transportation services. Measure E remains the principal source of funding for EDI, enabling it to provide critical safety net services to the community.
We can transport Berkeley residents in and around the city free of charge, as long as you schedule the ride in advance. If you require immediate emergency transportation, we can get you where you're going for a small fee.
Serving Berkeley Residents
Berkeley residents who qualify for Wheelchair Accessible Van Program Vouchers through the City of Berkeley Rides for Seniors and the Disabled (BRSD) can take advantage of this service for non-emergency transit needs. Users can get rides to medical appointments, stores, or other destinations in and around Berkeley.
Serving Berkeley Residents
Our drivers respond to urgent unplanned transportation needs. We will get you home when a ride falls through or your wheelchair battery runs out of power. If you need to get to a last-minute medical appointment or to the store to pick up medication, Easy Does It is available when no other transportation is available.
Vouchers for Berkeley Rides for Seniors and the Disabled (BRSD) is a free City of Berkeley supplemental transportation program for senior and Berkeley Residents with a disability. It is currently the only way to pay for pre-scheduled rides through Easy Does It. Emergency Transportation booked at the last minute can be paid for with a Check or Credit Card.
We maintain a list of a wide range of local, regional, and national organizations that provide information and services to seniors and people with disabilities.
