The June Update
Welcome to June and our 30th Summer of Outreach, friends of Easy Does It,
We are less than two weeks away from Easy Does it Day 2025: Three Decades of Dedication and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate 30 years of helping people live as they choose. We have a few final announcements regarding our 30th anniversary festivities and another reminder to get your free tickets. We’re also thrilled to announce two events with The CIL and CRIL. Finally, a reminder that when June ends it’s time for us to once again complete the annual re-registration of all our clients.
Announcing the Sweet City Blues Band, Mayor Ishii, and Easy Does It Day Jeopardy

Just in case there weren’t enough great reasons to attend our 30th anniversary, we’re thrilled to announce three additions to our lineup for the day. Easy Does it Day will be headlined by the Sweet City Blues Band, an elegant and energetic 4-piece band that plays great music for corporate parties and weddings in the Greater Bay Area from Napa Valley to Monterey to Lake Tahoe.
We’ll be hearing a brief statement from the City of Berkeley’s Mayor, Adena Ishii, and we are honored that she’ll be taking time out of her very busy schedule to celebrate with us. Finally, we’ll kick off our latest game for the day’s prizes, Easy Does it Day Jeopardy. Test your knowledge of our past 30 years of accomplishments as well as your understanding of the Independent Living Movement for a chance at multiple exceptional prize baskets.
We’ll begin sending out final announcements regarding the day’s activities to ticket holders at the start of next week and you’ll need a ticket to claim your free lunch, so be sure to register now to get your spot at our 30th Anniversary Barbecue, we can’t wait to celebrate it with you!
Get TicketsFree Transportation for Berkeley Clients
If you are one of our Berkeley Clients, you have the option of requesting free transportation both to and from the event, just let our dispatchers know you would like to reserve an Easy Does it Day Ride. Clients also have the option to test an early version of our online booking system, and its effectiveness will determine if we attempt to implement this bookings system for all of our service calls. So be sure to give it a go and provide feedback if you would like to see us implement this feature in the not-too-distant future.

Just before kicking off our 30th Summer of Outreach, we are thrilled to be kicking off a series of online workshops with our friends at Berkeley Ready! Their agency exists to ensure that all Berkeley Residents have the knowledge and resources needed to stay safe during natural disasters or emergency situations. They also ensure that Easy Does It has the resources needed to continue operating during a natural disaster.
In this online series of workshops, their team will walk EDI’s clients through a variety of disaster scenarios and how they can stay safe during them. Be sure to pay close attention to their talks, as attendees will have a chance to win a variety of prizes during the quiz after. Our first workshop on the 30th will focus on how to stay safe during an Earthquake, visit our website to get your unique webinar link.
Register for EventCelebrating the ADA Anniversary with Community Resources for Independent Living

On July 25th we’ll be joining Community Resources for Independent Living for their annual ADA Anniversary Celebration. Each year, CRIL puts together an exceptional meal and resource fair for the community they serve. We’ll be there to connect Hayward Residents with our Wheelchair Rescue service, which offers Free Roadside Repairs to stranded power chair users throughout northern Alameda County as well as to celebrate the occasion with their many community partners. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tabling OHA’s Annual Resource Fair, USOAC’s Annual Convention and Juneteenth
We’re kicking off our 30th Summer of Outreach in a big way, in the second week of June we have tabled three different Community Events to continue spreading the word about our safety net services that help seniors and people with disabilities to live independently. We have connected OHA’s residents and USOAC’s members with our affordable Wheelchair Repair and free Rescue Services. We reconnected with attendees of Berkeley’s annual Juneteenth Festival and we have several more Resource Fairs to attend before hosting our 30th anniversary on June 28.

Annual Re-Registration is just around the corner
Finally, a reminder that when June comes to an end, we must once again begin annual re-registration. Our funders at the City of Berkeley require us to collect up to date information on all of our clients at the start of each Fiscal Year. We’ll send out an e-mail with a link to update your information in July. You also have the option to update your information with one of our dispatchers the next time you call for services. We appreciate you taking the time to keep your client information up to date.
