The April Update
Hello, friends of Easy Does It, here is what is new in April.
We are pleased to be able to announce that we are opening up affordable Wheelchair Repair to Richmond and El Cerrito residents. We'd also like to remind you to get tickets for our 30th anniversary BBQ. We also have an update to share regarding Berkeley Rides for Seniors and the Disabled, as well as multiple upcoming events.
Welcoming Richmond and El Cerrito Clients May 1st

We are pleased to announce that we are almost finished preparing to welcome Richmond and El Cerrito clients to our Repair Program. We will be opening our shop’s doors to these two cities on May first and could not be more excited about offering our affordable repair services to even more people who previously didn’t have access. We would like to thank everyone who donated to make this initiative a reality, it would not have been possible without your support. On May 1st, our online application will begin accepting Richmond/El Cerrito zip codes and our dispatchers will be prepared to enroll new clients over the phone.
EDI Day Menu Drop May 5th

We're still hard at work putting together a menu for our 30th anniversary BBQ, Easy Does it Day 2025: Three Decades of Dedication. So we've opted to postpone announcing it until May 5th. At which point we'll have selected a caterer to prepare plenty of fresh BBQ, sandwiches, and sides for our attendees. Be sure that you RSVP and get yourself some free tickets off our events page so you don't miss out!

An update regarding Berkeley Rides for Seniors and the Disabled (BRSD)
As you may already be aware, the program that funds our Scheduled Accessible Rides service, Berkeley Rides for Seniors and the Disabled, is currently at capacity. To ensure that BRSD can continue to subsidize transportation for all Berkeley Seniors and Persons with Disabilities, the city will be reducing the number of voucher disbursements clients receive throughout the year. Moving forward, anyone attempting to apply for them will be put on a waiting list. The City of Berkeley has released a statement If you would like to learn more:

Next Tuesday, our Case Managers will be tabling at Merrit College’s Disability and Social Justice Job Fair. We are always looking for new Private Pay/IHSS Caregivers that we can refer to clients who are looking for additional support in and around the home. So, if you are looking to help others live as they choose, we hope you will pay us a visit to learn how you can get started working as a Caregiver.
