Happy CeCe Weeks Day
News Post
by Trevor Jacobson | Jul 27, 2023 | Special Announcement
Today is Cece Weeks Day, a Berkeley City Holiday dedicated to the late founder of Easy Does It Emergency Services. A long-time advocate for Independent Living and Disability Rights, CeCe led a group of people with disabilities and their advocates in creating our agency to provide emergency backup attendant services during nights and weekends. Later, Easy Does It changed to answering requests 24 hours, 7 days a week, for an emergency attendant, transportation or wheelchair repair.
Although little exists online to commemorate her work at EDI, CeCe also served as a consultant at UC Berkeley's School of Architecture, where she taught students to design spaces that are truly accessible for people who use wheelchairs or have other disabilities. A House For Someone Unlike Me, was a documentary she appeared in that explored the course. Today, in honor of her timeless contributions to Independent Living, we've remastered and upscaled this documentary to 1080p using AI.
