The October Update
Hello again friends of Easy Does It, here is what is new at our organization in October.
After an incredibly busy summer of community outreach events, we are completing our final scheduled events for 2024 and getting ready to head into the holiday season. Our next Community Meeting is just around the corner, and we have sent out our quarterly satisfaction survey to all of our clients. We were pleased to be able to attend the Healthy Living Festival and two other community events on October 5. We are also excited to announce an upcoming advertising campaign we will be running on Alameda County Transit buses in Oakland to educate and connect more people with our Wheelchair Rescue rides.
Our Last Community Meeting of 2024
If you have any thoughts, comments, or concerns about the quality of our services, our Community Meetings are the perfect opportunity to share them. Twice a year, Easy Does It hosts Community Meetings to ensure that we are living up to your expectations. When meeting attendees have little to no feedback to share, we have also used this time to share any updates we may have about improvements to our service.
So, be sure to join us on October 17 at 5 PM to learn what’s new at Easy Does It and share your comments. We look forward to seeing you.
Join MeetingDon’t forget to wrap your Joystick in a plastic bag!
As we head into the rainy season, it is important to remember that the joystick on your Power Chair is at risk of electrically shorting out in the wet weather. The easiest way to protect your device from an electrical short is to wrap your joystick in a plastic bag, then seal it off using a rubber band where your joystick is mounted to the wheelchair frame. This simple step does wonders to protect your chair from the elements and prevents the need for time-consuming repairs to your chair's electronics.
Our Quarterly Satisfaction Survey is out now.
Every Quarter, we solicit feedback about the quality of our services in the form of a survey from our clients. This survey helps us to ensure that we are living up to your expectations. If you have not completed your satisfaction survey yet, we encourage you to provide your feedback now. Your response helps us improve the quality of care we can provide and to document to our funders the difference our work is making in the community. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your quality-of-service feedback.
Updated Survey and Anonymous Access
We have changed how we collect survey responses this quarter. By default, clients will receive a link that takes them to a personalized survey tied to their account, but if you wish to remain anonymous, simply use the second link. Respondents are not required to register with this link and no information will be logged about your session on our website.
Finishing the Summer of Outreach at The Healthy Living Festival
Trevor and Jolene were especially busy at this year’s Healthy Living Festival. Every year, United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County hosts a massive resource fair for Bay Area Seniors. Thanks to Supervisory Nate Miley, this event is free and attracts thousands of residents, making it our biggest opportunity of the Summer to get the word out. We were pleased to come prepared with enough free merch and information for everyone who visited our booth. As thrilling of a day as it was, this means that our events calendar is going to be lightening up as we head into the holiday season.
Tabling at both Alameda County’s Emergency Preparedness Day and Emeryville’s Harvest Festival
Finally, our second Community Meeting of the year is taking place on October 23. Our Bi-Annual Community Meeting’s allow our clients to comment on how the quality of our service has impacted them. We have grown a lot as an agency over the past year, but that does not mean there is no room for improvement, and we strongly encourage you to join us on Zoom with any feedback you may have. We will also be sharing updates on our recent expansion of Wheelchair Repair to Emeryville, and improvements to our FASTER contract. We will also talk about the status of development on the Easy Does It Caregiver Network, which we hope will make it easier to find quality caregivers in Berkeley. Registration is not required to attend, but you can visit our website and add the zoom Bi-Annual Community Meeting to your calendar. Be sure you do not miss it!

Despite the Summer of Outreach ending, we were thrilled to be able to table two events on October 5th. With the recent expansion of our wheelchair repair program to the City of Emeryville, we attended The City of Emeryville’s annual Harvest Festival to get the word out. Because Alameda County’s Emergency Preparedness Day took place on the same day at the at the Ed Roberts Campus, Trevor connected new Emeryville clients with our wheelchair repair program, while our repair team helped individuals at the Ed Roberts Campus explore ways to keep their equipment charged in the event of a power outage.
Coming soon to Alameda County Transit buses in Oakland
Our Team had an incredible time tabling once more at The Solano Stroll. We were thrilled to be able to connect Albany residents with our Wheelchair Rescue Program, which is now able to offer additional wheelchair repair services and a loaner chair to ensure that if a wheelchair user’s equipment breaks down while they are out and about, we can get them mobile again.
