Monthly Update

The March Update

Welcome to March, friends of Easy Does It.

The weather is just getting better, so we’re getting closer to another summer filled with community events and outreach activities. We’re all quite excited to get back out into the sun and to connect new potential clients with our safety net services in order to help them to live independently in their own home. Among the topics this month: EDI is looking for volunteers for our Board of Directors; we have a wheelchair repair workshop next week at the Downtown Berkeley Library, and we’re preparing for our first online Community Meeting of the year. We also have a wealth of resources to share from our friends at Soul Space, The CIL, and WBFWC.

Seeking Board Members

EDI is currently seeking volunteers for our Board of Directors. Although an unpaid position, the Board serves a vital role in overseeing the continued operation of our Agency. They hold our management and staff team accountable while also determining the future of our work for the disability community. If you want to become a member of the Board of Directors, you can apply on our website. Thank you for considering taking part in this vital aspect of our Agency.

We are very excited to host a Wheelchair Repair Workshop at the Downtown Berkeley Library next week. Our repair team will be there from 11 am – 1 pm to offer community members complimentary tune-ups on their electric wheelchairs, scooters and other assistive tech. We’ll also be there with all our usual EDI Outreach Materials, so be sure to stop by for free repair of your mobility equipment or at least some free merch. We look forward to seeing you then.

Our First Community Meeting of 2024

Infographic Reading, Apr 18, Bi-Annual Community Meeting, 5:30 pm - 7 pm, Zoom.

Easy Does It’s First Community Meeting of 2024 is on April 18th. Twice a year, we host these meetings to share updates regarding our services and to allow the Community to comment on how the quality of our service has impacted them. We’re opting to host these meetings online only this year, as very few people joined us in person last year. Registration is no longer required for remote meetings; head to our website on April 18 to join the meeting. You can also visit our website to add the event to your calendar and to get a reminder message.

Have you seen our Office’s new Photos?

There are some new faces in the window at the front of our offices. We added photos of CeCe Weeks, Ed Roberts, Judy Heumann, and Hale Zukas to the front of our offices to honor their timeless contributions to the Independent Living Movement. We also have some of our favorite Easy Does It’s Team photos. We hope this work will make the street where our offices exist a little more interesting.

Finishing the Documentary

We’re also happy to be working with Elly and Joe on finishing the EDI Documentary we started working on a year ago. Unfortunately, they had to take a break from production due to other projects, but they are again filming interviews and day-to-day operations at Easy Does It to finish their documentary work.
