Happy July, Friends of Easy Does It,
The Summer of Outreach continues! Our team has been hard at work connecting with the community at events on and offline. This month, we took our Wheelchair Repair Team online for their first Online Repair Workshop. Viewers could tune in on their streaming platform of choice and leave questions for our technicians in the chat. We will also be tabling at the Berkeley Farmers Market; thanks to the Ecology Center for the invite!
July is also annual re-registration time for all of our clients. Re-registration is an essential procedure that ensures we can continue to provide affordable care. So be sure to provide our dispatchers with your up-to-date contact information the next time you call in for service.
Prepare for a Huge Announcement on July 21st.
We have some pretty big news to share with you this Friday. Bruce Curtis, our acting Executive Director has been hard at work implementing changes to build a bigger, better, stronger Easy Does It. The first of many accomplishments focused on expanding the community we can serve goes live on July 21st. We look forward to sharing the specifics with you then.
Annual Re-Registration is Here
July has arrived, and the annual welcome letter has been sent out. This means all our existing clients must re-register to continue using our services. It is vital that Easy Does It has up-to-date contact information so that we can provide you with updates regarding your account and show our funders that their money is being put to good use helping the community. Updating your information is incredibly easy; you can provide us with your information the next time you call in for service or call the office during regular business hours to update your information.
Celebrate Disability Pride Month
Every July is Disability Pride Month—initially a celebration of the anniversary of the passing of the ADA Act - Disability Pride seeks to build upon its roots to create a month dedicated to celebrating people with disabilities. People with disabilities contribute a great deal to society daily, so every July, it’s essential to recognize our many accomplishments.
Join Us at the Berkeley Farmers Market
Easy Does It will be tabling at the Ecology Center’s weekly farmer’s market. The focus of the market for the week will be on reducing the amount of plastic waste generated by our communities, so we stocked up on complimentary tote bags and reusable produce bags for attendees. Pop by our booth to grab yours so that you can take part in reducing our plastic footprint.
EDI at SAHA’s Resident Field Day
Satellite Affordable Housing Associates’ (SAHA) Annual Resident Field Day is in August. SAHA is tackling the Bay Area housing crisis by developing and managing properties for low-income residents. EDI will be there to hand out free tote bags, snacks, and refreshments.
EDI en Congreso Familiar
Easy Does It se presentará en Congreso Familiar.
Easy Does it will be tabling at Congreso Familiar, an event that connects Spanish-speaking members of the community with education, leadership skills, and resources for students living with disabilities. We'll be breaking out our Spanish flyers and have a Team Member fluent in Spanish with us at the event.
Our First Monthly Repair Workshop
Our Repair Team enjoyed answering your repair questions at our first-ever online wheelchair repair workshop. We want to thank our attendees for popping by to show their support for this new free monthly resource offered by Easy Does It. Be sure to tune in next month on your streaming platform of choice for an opportunity to get your questions answered.
Seeking Private Pay Attendants
Our Case Managers are hard at work improving the resources Easy Does It can offer its clients regarding full-time care. We are focusing on bolstering our database of attendants looking for work. If you or someone you know works as an attendant and is interested in taking on additional clients, we encourage you to add your name to our list; upon reviewing your application, we will reach out to you whenever one of our clients is looking to hire.
