Running Remotely: how we’ve kept our team safe despite Omicron

News Post

The 20’s continue to throw unprecedented challenges our way. As we approached the new year many of us at EDI were excited to start to see a little bit of normalcy return to our work lives. We were finally starting to think about things like getting our team back in the office, and even potentially reopening our doors to the public. For the first time in a long time, we were lucky enough to host a Christmas party. But Rona had other plans. Omicron took the country by storm. While many still fought to get workers back to their cubicles, we took a slightly different approach.

The second we got word of another surge remote work was made a requirement once again. Our administrative staff returned to Zoom, our dispatchers continued to service the lines from home. Our brave attendants and drivers were given even more tools to protect themselves on the front lines. In the beginning, we were lucky to come across N95’s. Now we’re proud to be able to offer our team all the PPE they could ever need on the job. We’re mandating that our attendants were at least a KN95 whenever they interact with the public and encouraging the use of isolation gowns and face shields if they need to interact with clients who’ve been exposed to covid-19. We’re spending a great deal of time properly training our team to use the new equipment effectively.

We’re also mandating that our entire team gets boosted by the start of February. Everyone is already fully vaccinated. We are of course continuing to administer daily temperature/symptom checks. We’re encouraging attendants to stay home if they experience symptoms and mandating sick leave in the event they get Covid. Everyone is covered by our 100% employer-paid health plan so in the event someone does get sick, they have access to the care they need to get better.

Despite all the challenges we’ve faced over the past two years we’ve managed to continue to provide service in a manner that is beneficial to our clients and safe for our team. Easy Does It is proud to have supported the many people in dire need of our services and regardless of what the pandemic throws at us. Regardless of what comes next, we have no intention of stopping. Thanks for your continued support, stay healthy and stay safe.
