November at Easy Does It
News Post
by Trevor Jacobson | Nov 18, 2022 | Monthly Newsletter
Season's greetings, friends of Easy Does It! I hope this newsletter finds you well.
All of us at Easy Does It have been hard at work - focused on our mission of providing emergency services and other essential supports that enable and enhance independent living - and we have accomplished a lot this year.
We answered phone calls 24 hours a day and responded to countless text messages and emails. We provided hundreds of people with thousands of hours of attendant care, transportation, and repair services. We hired new staff, spent time in the community spreading the word about Easy Does It, got new tools to do our work, and updated our look. We are excited to share this with you this month.
We wish you all the best this holiday season and look forward to another great year with you!
Sincerely,
Michele Blackwell
Executive Director
Our Brand-New Website
To better connect with our community, we have launched an updated brand, a new website, and updated work across various outreach channels. We hope they will improve access to vital resources for our current clients and make our mission easier to understand for new ones.
Our top priority when developing the new site was to make it as accessible as possible. We’ve confirmed that the new website is currently WCAG-compliant and compatible with screen readers. The Center for Accessible Technology has also audited the finished product. Site navigation and content have been simplified to make accessing relevant information easier.
Although we strive to adhere to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards for accessibility and usability, it may not always be possible in all website areas. We are continuously evaluating solutions that will bring all areas of the website up to the same level of overall web accessibility and usability. If you experience any difficulty in accessing or using our website, please get in touch with us at info@easydoesitservices.org for further assistance.
This new website is the first of many steps I plan to take to help realize our vision of a better Easy Does It, and I will share much more in the future.
Giving Tuesday
Every November, Giving Tuesday inspires a day filled with generosity. It is an opportunity to support the organizations that make the community a better place. This year, it falls on November 29th, and we hope you will consider donating to Easy Does It; we rely on the continued financial support of people like you to make our work possible.
We’ve been Out and About
Over the past couple of months, we have attended numerous events to spread the word about our work, including the Solano Stroll, the Healthy Living Festival, Alameda Pride, and the Center for Independent Living’s #CIL50 Street Fair and Gala. It was a treat to get into the community and connect with people who could benefit from our services. We were also excited to show off our new and improved booth.
Flu Season is here; get Boosted and Vaccinated.
As we head into the winter, it is essential to remember to stay diligent regarding not only COVID-19 but also the flu. New variants of COVID pose a threat to the community. Thankfully, we have new boosters to fight them. The flu also poses an increased risk this year as we grow more comfortable gathering indoors.
At Easy Does It, we continue to center the health and safety of our staff and the people we serve. All direct service staff must report their health status daily, wear Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gloves, gowns) and maintain physical distancing whenever possible. We ask staff to stay home when sick and require COVID-19 vaccinations for all staff who work directly with clients (or come into contact with those that do). Please continue to do your part to keep everyone safe this winter; get boosted, get vaccinated, and wear a face covering indoors.
