If you’re interested in using our Demand Response Ride transportation service, you’ll need to complete the following steps to receive vouchers from the City of Berkeley.
Step 1 – Become certified eligible by East Bay Paratransit
East Bay Paratransit’s offices are currently closed to the public due to Covid-19, but you may reach them by phone at (800) 555-8085. Choose Option 5 to speak directly with someone who can conduct your eligibility interview and help you complete your application.
Once the process is complete, you will be given a certification number which you will need for your Ride for Seniors Program application (Step 2).
Step 2 – Apply for the City of Berkeley’s Ride for Seniors Program
You will need to contact the City of Berkeley – West Berkeley Senior Center via the telephone at (510) 981-7269. (Due to Covid-19, the Senior Center building is also closed.) They will send you an application for their Ride for Seniors Program and answer any questions you may have about completing this process.
Once you receive your application, fill it out, and return it by mail. Please be sure to include your Certification number from Easy Bay Paratransit. Once the City of Berkeley receives your completed application, you will receive an approval letter and van vouchers via mail.
It takes up to 2 weeks for processing and approval, and riders get 12 free van vouchers during each mailing period in December, April, and August.
Now you are ready to use our Demand Response Ride services!
When our van arrives at your home, present them to your driver instead of cash or check.
Do you have additional questions about this process?
If so, please call our dispatcher at (510) 845-5513.
